Actor Refutes Anti-Vaxxer Stance Following Lending His Voice To Disputed Pandemic Feature
The "Taken" star has given his narration to a recent film that questions the legitimacy of immunizations and commends ex- government figure RFK Jr.
The Documentary's Contentious Foundation
Named "Plague of Corruption," the documentary is inspired by a well-known publication published by a disgraced researcher, who became famous during the health crisis for claims that Covid was caused by a bad strain of the influenza shot.
The book's writing partner, Kent Heckenlively, has penned books with far-right media personality a known commentator. The producer recently posted hailing Neeson's participation in the project.
A Firm Statement
Representatives for Neeson have provided a statement firmly refuting implications that he holds anti-vax beliefs.
"Everyone can recognize that unethical practices may occur within the medical sector, but that must not be equated to opposition to vaccines," the response states. "Neeson never has been, and cannot be described as, against vaccines. His extensive work with the global charity reinforces his enduring support for global immunisation initiatives."
It added that the star was not involved in crafting the project's narrative and that concerns about its content ought to go to the filmmakers.
Major Themes Within the Film
According to the documentary, the narration read by Neeson makes several provocative points:
- It states that pro-immunization voices have demanded "blind obedience" to government bodies.
- It declares that "research has become dangerously politicized."
- RFK Jr is shown saying, "The big problem with vaccines is that they are not safely tested."
- It takes aim at pandemic restrictions, saying they caused psychological harm that led to the loss of thousands of lives.
- Concerning Covid vaccines, it references a report that they were "hurriedly approved" and seen as "hazardous tests."
Historical Context and Current Disputes
It also references a past television report about AIDS medication trials on children, which was subsequently the topic of a formal apology by the corporation for unbalanced reporting.
Last month, RFK Jr directed the national health agency to alter its official position that there is no causal relationship between immunizations and autism spectrum disorder. This supposed link is repeated in the documentary, contrary to a new report from the WHO reiterating no such link has been found.
A Previous Position of Advocacy
Standing in contrast to the film's tone, Neeson has in the past voiced strong support for vaccines in his position as a charity ambassador.
Previously, he described vaccines as "a remarkable achievement," noting that "The discourse about vaccines in recent years has lost sight of how much good they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest shared accomplishments in our history."
The documentary finishes with Neeson's voice proclaiming, "This isn't the conclusion of our journey. It is the dawn of a fresh chapter."
