Ex- Doctor Charged with Assault Allegations Against 38 Patients
Prosecutors report that a former doctor now faces charges for committing assaults against 38 victims who were patients.
The Grave Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences â comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen â between 2017 and 2021.
One deputy chief CPS official said, âLegal teams have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.â
Scope of the Investigation
These allegations come after what police described as a âcomplex investigationâ into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents outline the forty-five sexual offences comprise:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
