Ex- Doctor Charged with Assault Allegations Against 38 Patients

Prosecutors report that a former doctor now faces charges for committing assaults against 38 victims who were patients.

The Grave Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.

One deputy chief CPS official said, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Investigation

These allegations come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

Breakdown of Charges

The charging documents outline the forty-five sexual offences comprise:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Authorities are urging anyone with concerns to get in touch with the investigating team.
