Fans Urge Detainment of Person Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Devoted supporters of the pop star are urging that a individual who leaped a barricade and seized the actress during the recent Wicked: For Good premiere be taken into custody or removed from Singapore.
A viral footage reveals the individual from Australia bypassing photographers and rushing toward Grande while the actors proceeded down a event pathway flanked by onlookers.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo immediately pulled the surprised performer away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being removed of the event by security officers.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "released after being detained", though official papers revealed that he was due to attend court on Friday morning. It is unknown if he was faced legal action.
History of Event Invasions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Notorious Troublemaker", has invaded a concert or event. His Instagram profile contains videos of him disrupting other celebrity events, including breaching the performance area at Katy Perry's Sydney show in recently and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers concert in the city last year.
"Measures must be taken enforced against him as this is obviously a legal violation," commented an Instagram commenter, in a response to a video Mr Wen posted of his behavior.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" one Instagram user wrote.
Fans Show Disapproval Over Grande's Past Trauma
Numerous supporters accused Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had spoken of experiencing trauma-related anxiety after a suicide bomb attack at the conclusion of her 2017 concert in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and wounding many.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" commented one more response on Instagram.
Some attendees also faulted guards at the gathering for not being sufficiently alert; while others demanded social media platforms to remove Mr Wen's content.
Reaction and Premiere Information
In clips circulating online, Grande appeared startled when she was touched by the intruder. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted consoling her while Mr Wen was led out by security.
Grande has not issued a statement on the situation, and the remaining proceedings proceeded as normal.
Hundreds of supporters had gathered in a crowd of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good international launch in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had waited for as long as a significant duration before it commenced.
The film, to be released on November 21, is the follow-up of a dual version of the acclaimed stage musical Wicked, which centers on the unexpected friendship between two very different witches.
The musical itself is a spin-off of the twentieth-century children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was adorned in a rosé glittering gown at the gathering while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a black tube gown embroidered with roses.
They were accompanied by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the top-earning motion picture of the previous year in the UK, and scored 10 Oscar nominations, earning a pair for excellent wardrobe and set decoration.
