Shock as Renowned South African DJ Killed in the Heart of Johannesburg.
A renowned South African radio and club DJ has been shot dead in the metropolis of Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a country grappling with persistent crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was attacked in the downtown area on a Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities reported the 40-year-old presenter was accosted by three suspects, one of whom opened fire on him before escaping on foot.
The purpose behind the incident has not been established and no one has been arrested have been made, as per the official statement.
How It Happened
Law enforcement revealed that Stock was ambushed as he was leaving a location near the city center landmark.
He had been present for hours at the site supervising the implementation of security systems, which had been controversially occupied by unidentified individuals, it was reported.
"Authorities believe the victim was approached by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they shot at him before fleeing the scene on foot," an official report confirmed.
CCTV footage showed a suspect with dreadlocked hair and wearing what looked like a guard's attire opening fire on Stock before fleeing.
The DJ attempted to flee after he was hit but fell down a short distance away.
Police added that Stock had an unused firearm and nothing was taken during the attack.
Crucial forensic evidence, like bullet casings, were found at the scene.
Investigation Ongoing
Police have appealed members of the public who may have seen the suspects to contact them.
"Our information indicates they walked a long distance after the attack, and police have been following their trail to find their whereabouts," stated a police chief.

His sister, Nicole Stock, stated the family was struggling to process his death.
"Words fail me. I don't have words," she said.
"We know he was a champion for numerous individuals. He spoke out bravely about subjects not many people were ready to tackle. This is a profound tragedy."
She urged the citizens to refrain from sharing graphic images from the scene, noting this was an extremely painful time, especially for Stock's three sons.

Stock was the star of Ngicel' iVisa, a television program that premiered on a popular local broadcasting platform.
Apart from his role as a presenter, Stock was active in various business ventures, including security provision, providing high-level security services and securing major functions across South Africa.
He was also said to be engaged in building administration and assisted with tenant removals.

His killing has shocked the country and triggered an wave of remembrances from his audience, the authorities and various organizations.
A cabinet official remarked he was outraged and heartbroken by Stock's murder.
"He expressed his views boldly and honestly. He even spoke up against me and my decisions as a minister. He was a pure example of who we must aspire to be," he stated.
A public representative said the "shocking killing of DJ Warras in the middle of the day is a shock for all South Africans".
A broadcasting director expressed that "DJ Warras was far beyond a TV personality. He was a skilled narrator, a true devotee of sound and a kind-hearted individual who brought excitement and dynamism to every performance. His dedication to creativity left an lasting impression."
In a communication, the channel he worked for affirmed Stock was known for his magnetism, kindness and quick humor, adding that his memory "will endure".
