The Streaming Platform is Producing a Popular Game TV Show from the Creators of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The most recent Far Cry game that players explored was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and was released during October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it has a reputation for celebrating violence and madness with similar excitement, all while telling gripping, politically driven tales. Little surprise that FX's decision for a Far Cry anthology series pulled in two creators whose projects have represented all of those things.
Show Details
Adapted from Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the self-contained anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also mirror the video games' format by featuring a different setting and cast of characters in subsequent series.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as showrunners on the series through their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared outstanding relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are working together for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is fresh, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this popular property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also feature in the show, but at the time of writing, we do not know what part that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for more episodes, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the producer.
“Being able to collaborate with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, entrusting us with one of the most famous video-game worlds ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team constantly supports me with their steady belief and support.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style program. Every instalment is a take of a concept, the same way every series of Fargo is a variation on a story,” said Hawley. “To develop a epic action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always delving into the core of society through this multifaceted and unpredictable viewpoint, is a dream come true. I’m thrilled to partner with Rob and introduce our common bold, visionary style to the screen.”
A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
