This Swine Life: Hog Named Six Seven Spared by Miami Dade County Mayor.

While perhaps not at the equivalent scale as pardoning holiday birds, but the Miami-Dade County mayor experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. She deserves this act of mercy. Her criminal record is spotless,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with inescapable allusions to the extraordinary and sizable number of executive clemencies issued since the beginning of a second term in office.

“Except perhaps for eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “May this pig enjoy a lengthy and joyful existence without fear.”

The gathering, either celebrating or rejecting the area's customary feast of consuming swine during the holidays, was established to emulate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The animal, provided by a Coral Gables firefighter, was christened after the current slang trend of young people shouting “six seven” – inspired by a rap song lyric – often without clear purpose. The phrase became so pervasive that a leading lexicon site recently declared “six-seven” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Peaceful Retirement

The pardoned swine is now destined to live out its days at a countryside refuge “away from grills and cookware”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“The annual pig pardon has become a cherished method to begin the holiday season,” said Eric Castellanos, in a notably cheerful message.

“It captures the character of Miami: happy, diverse, and rooted in traditions that foster togetherness. Every time, we are proud to celebrate culture and compassion in a way unique to Miami.”

Attendees enjoyed a plant-based fare of croquettes and Cuban coffee as they marked Six Seven’s big moment.
